Everyone is talking about AI, and how it's changing the world we live in. Some usecases are pretty crazy and don't really have good "real world use" cases, but it can be very helpful for helping you discover LEGO sets.
We've had the ability to scan box for words and then search on those words for a while, but now we have upgrade our AI Image Search, to help you take a photo of your completed sets, and get a recommendation on what it is!
This is helpful if you don't know what the set is called anymore, or don't have the box and instructions. This is leveraged with the power of OpenAI to scan the photo you are taking and match it with LEGO.com set photos to get a good match on your set!
We recommend making sure that when you take the photo, you keeping the set in the frame without anything in the shot, similar to how it worked with just scanning the box previously. After snapping the photo, we'll analyze the photo and try to search the web to find a match - it's that easy!
In another small change, you may have noticed that while we are leaning in on AI to help you find your sets, we are moving away from our old logo on brickd, which was generated with AI. At the time that it was created, it a great way to get out the door fast, but as we have grown, it's important to use a logo that is more closely matching the experience we want on brickd, hence the new logo that represents more of a LEGO experience. We hope you like it!
AI Image Search is still in beta, so we want your feedback and it may be unrealiable at times! If you have questions or feedback, let us know via our support form. We'd love to hear from you!
